If any hastened catch-up growth risks undermining its biodiversity, lingering poverty exacerbates pressure on natural resources. Striking the right balance between economic development and environmental protection is of the essence.

Green Development and Environment Alliance (Green DEALL) brokers win-win deals between people and the planet, ensuring that Sub-Saharan Africa’s legitimate quest for economic growth is pursued in a way that does not compromise its enormous natural and biological wealth and that environmental protection is approached in a way that does not collapse people's support or imperil growth. In short, Green DEALL is committed to ensuring that environmental protection and economic development are not at odds with each other but bound together.

Tackling Human-Wildlife conflicts (HWC)

Conflicts or negative interactions from a growing competition for space and resources between humans and wildlife have detrimental socioeconomic consequences and harmful ecological impacts associated with the retaliatory killing of wildlife.

Data gathering on conflict events, their drivers and risk mapping are crucial to predict HWC occurence and guide decision-making.

Developing countries contribute very little to global warming but are disproportionately burdened by climate change. We strengthen their capacity to mitigate and adapt to climate shocks, including through:

Water supply and integrated management in dry areas
Climate-smart agriculture
Institutional and policy reforms
